the Art of Photographing Nature

What seems like many careers ago, I worked for a major US book publisher (Random House). As an employee there I first started thinking about how I loved photography and looking at great pictures. More importantly, I wanted to take great pictures like the ones that I kept seeing in the books that we published. One of the first ones that I saw was this book, the Art of Nature Photography.
The photographer Art Wolff, is one of the best photographers today. This book is essentially a discussion of photographs and what makes them good publishable photographs. The discussion is between Art Wolff and Martha Hill, a former photo editor for Audobon magazine. This is by no means a new book, it was originally published in 1993. The topics that are discussed including photo layout, perspective and technique make this a valuable addition to any book shelf.
When I first received this as a free book selection from the publisher of Crown Books, a division of Random House, I treated it almost like it was a Playboy. I merely looked at the pictures. [I was a stupid 30 year old then.] As I got more and more interested in photography as art, i decided that i wanted to learn more about how some of these things were done, so I started reading the text of the book. The biggest thing that I've taken away from this book is that there isn't 1 way to take a particular photograph since everyone sees things a little differently. Understanding all of the techniques of photography and of design can help you take great photographs outdoors.
I strongly recommend this book as an addition to your photography library.
