There are a lot of things that I personally like about this book, other than the magnificent photos taken by the author I mean. The layout of the book makes a lot of sense. First, Mr. Cox deals with photography principals like light and color. The author then delves into some specific topics like Landscapes and Action photography.
The layout of the book makes it perfect for a beginning or intermediate photogapher to get a lot of basic photographic knowledge with some excellent examples. If you're looking for a lot of very in-depth analysis into specific photographic subjects, you'll need to go elsewhere, that's not what this book is all about. I was very pleased with the coverage provided in this book. My basic personality sometimes allows me to delve deeply into a subject but sometimes i want to just cut to the chase.
Mr. Cox cuts to the chase. For this topic, there really isnt that much of a need for in-depth coverage. There's a lot of information in here to get you started. I say this in a lot of different places throughtout the site -- the best thing that you can do is take a LOT of pictures. Don't just click away, look at what you're doing, review it and try to understand it. The more pictures that you take, the more you'll learn and understand. This title is an excellent addition to any photography library -- even if you just purchase it for the great photos that are used to illustrate the points in the book.
