Portable Audio
There are a lot of choices when it comes to portable music devices. 20 years ago, there was a very simple choice -- sony or panasonic. Today the choices are getting confusing with cell phone manufacturers even getting in the game now. The type of portable music player that you need depends on 2 things; 1- what are you going to use the device for, 2-what format is your music collection in?
With several of the formats available today, portable music requires a two step process. First record the music into some usable music format. Second, transfer or re-record the music onto the device or the usable format. This is not always the case, but at times you must. For example, if you have an iPod from Apple Computer, you need to transfer or record your music onto your computer then transfer the song to the iPod in order to take it with you.

- do you NEED to carry 2,000 songs with you?
- are you going to have another way to hold all of your music? (like buying CDs)
- are you ever going to use the device to exercise (particularly running).
- do you have a collection of CDs that you DON'T want to go through and record your music onto your computer?
