History Details For - White Plains

After the Americans withdrew from Harlem Heights, they headed north to White Plains. It took the British 10 days to travel 17 miles and didn't attack until the 28th of October. The British attacked Washington's left taking the heights above the town of White Plains (Chatterton's Hill). The British suffered 300 casualties and the Americans lost 300. Again, Washington retreated. [Instead of following the Americans, the British decided to head sound and attack Fort Washington on upper Manhattan Island.]
