Early America-the American Revolution
Welcome to the History of the American Revolution Archive. This archive contains information regarding the turmoil leading up to as well as the turmoil of the American Revolution. This archive is to be a fluid archive in that it will change by growing over time, plus I will be adding information concerning specific events over time. We've recently added in information from the French and Indian War as well as various other indian wars and battles.
My goal here is to have a complete history of early America including the American Revolution. The American Revolution began with the early settlements and culminated with the actual war with Great Britain. This history will start out as a history of the war, but this archive will build into a reference dating back to early settlement of America - the who, the how and the why. All of this is very critical to how we became the country that we are.
The first detailed summary of a major campaign is now available. The British campaign of 1777 consisting of 7 skirmishes and battles provided a key turning point (includes Saratoga). Please note, i do need to edit the summary, but i'll present it anyway.

During the Revolution, there were battles and skirmishes fought all over what was then the American colonies but we have included only 'major' battles and campaigns in this database (at this time).

The things that we're working on for inclusion here are - French & Indian War battles, we've located some maps that we're going to work in and we've also located some illustrations and some other links to additional information on the items located in this database.
The sources for this database are pretty diverse and come from a wide variety of publications. I know that there are some instructors out there that have asked for sources of information. Click here for more on the sources.
